Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck’s Honeymoon Disagreement Reportedly Started Their Marriage Problems

With Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck officially going their separate ways, it’s safe to say the couple had a few disagreements they just couldn’t agree on. But while rumors of those marital woes have been swirling for a while, new sources are confirming that Lopez and Affleck’s troubles started way, way back.

In fact, according to a new source for Page Six, things began going downhill for the couple during their honeymoon back in 2022.

As a reminder, Lopez and Affleck jetted off to Paris, France, and later Lake Como, Italy, after their two wedding ceremonies in Las Vegas and at their Atlanta compound on August 20, 2022. The trips, which were supposed to be the couple’s ultimate romantic vacation, ended up being flooded with paparazzi and media attention at every corner.

And, as it turns out, Affleck, who reconciled with Lopez a year earlier in 2021, was taken aback.

“He was unhappy with paparazzi following them,” the insider told the outlet, noting that Lopez’s stardom overwhelmed the Oscar winner. “She is an international superstar, and he acted like it came as a surprise that they would be followed around.”

With so much media attention on them 24/7, Lopez and Affleck reportedly didn’t get the private and romantic couple’s retreat they were searching for.

“They would barely speak to each other during what was supposed to be the happiest time of their life,” the source said.

And as Affleck began reacting negatively to the situation, their honeymoon, lovey-dovey phase started wearing off. “He sold her on him being a changed man, and that lasted a very short time,” the source said.

“He was just getting sober … He was in a vulnerable state, and whatever their chemistry played into that,” the insider said of Affleck. “He was in this frenzied, excitable state.”

So, eventually, when Affleck and Lopez came back to their everyday lives, the pair was reportedly already missing the je ne sais quoi they once had. Soon after, Affleck tapped out. “He doesn’t want [the entourage] and all the drama that comes with that in his home,” the source said.

These reports only confirm other insiders who claimed that Affleck somewhat gave up on his marriage with Lopez. “Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” an insider told People earlier this week. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work.” 

Unsurprisingly, Lopez was eventually left with no choice but to file for divorce. We can’t imagine how heartbreaking that must’ve been.
