BBC confirms The Traitors will return for a FOURTH series alongside exciting new spin off
THE BBC has confirmed that The Traitors will receive a fourth series.
It was previously revealed in November last year that a third instalment will air on BBC One.
Now, the publicly funded broadcaster has revealed at the 2024 Edinburgh TV Festival that the show will continue to at least the fourth outing.
The second series of the hit psychological BBC reality show came to an end earlier in January and Harry Clark was declared as the winner.
Due to its success, more editions of the multi-award-winning hit psychological game format have been given the green light, including the highly-anticipated celebrity edition.
Fans are sure to be delighted by the news as filming for the third series of The Traitors started in the Scottish Highlands.
Claudia Winkleman will once again return to the hit show to display her signature hosting style in the smash strategy game.
Alongside four series of the show, a special nine-episode series that features celebrities as contestants will also air on the BBC platforms.
Applications are already open to the public for the fourth instalment.
Casting for willing celebrities to take their seats at the infamous round table is also underway.
This comes after The Traitors earned a string of awards which include the BAFTA TV Award for Best Reality & Constructed Factual.
It also won the National Television Award (NTA) for Reality Competition and the RTS award for Entertainment.
Whilst Claudia, 52, also won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Entertainment Performance and the RTS award for her job as the face of the show.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC said: “The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level.”
She added: “It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!”
In addition, 12 new episodes of the companion show, The Traitors: Uncloaked which will return alongside the third series of The Traitors.
Comedian Ed Gamble will once again return to front the studio series which will be available on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and on BBC Sounds.
The second series received 46million views on BBC iPlayer and an average of 8.1m views per episode.
It also continues to be the biggest new Entertainment brand in the 16-34 age market.
