0

Denim brand Lee and luxury footwear brand Oliver Cabell have teamed up to create a limited-edition sneaker collection blending denim craftsmanship and artisanal shoemaking, releasing Aug. 22.

The low-top sneakers feature distressed denim and Italian calfskin leather in addition to clear Margom outsoles and a cushioned insole. The shoes are offered in two denim washes — a light blue option and a dark blue option — retailing for $269.

A description of the shoes reads, “The Lee x Oliver Cabell collection showcases a fusion of tradition and innovation, appealing to both denim enthusiasts and sneaker aficionados alike. Each pair of sneakers is meticulously handcrafted with distressed denim, paying homage to Lee’s heritage while adding a touch of modern luxury.”

“Oliver Cabell is known for crafting timeless and versatile footwear, which pairs perfectly with Lee’s denim,” said Barb Robinson, Lee’s global collaborations manager. “Nothing goes better with a great jean, like Lee’s 101Z, than a great pair of sneakers like these.”

Scott Gabrielson, founder of Oliver Cabell, said, “Partnering with Lee allows us to push the boundaries of luxury footwear to create something truly unique for our customers. By combining our innovative shoemaking with Lee’s iconic legacy, this collection is a testament to our shared commitment to quality craftsmanship and timeless design.”

The new shoes can be found online at Lee.com, owned stores in the U.S. and Oliver Cabell’s U.S. and European websites.

Prior to announcing this collaboration, Oliver Cabell recently partnered with TaylorMade to create a golf-focused sneaker collection which released June 27. The brand originally launched in 2016 and raised $1.2 million with the help of an anonymous donor, funding that let Oliver Cabell get into the footwear market.

Describing its footwear aesthetic, the American brand told FN in 2017, “We see a few core classic timeless silhouettes — retro runners, low-tops, high-tops, cap toes — we are putting our own spin on each of those, leveraging the approach and design we’ve taken, which is using textures and colors more so than ornate designs. All are fairly minimalistic, but our goal is to really use a variety of textures, outsoles, colorways and the rest to really play on those silhouettes. We will be doing unique things like a deerskin shoe, pony hair shoe, a ton of different textures and exotics.”
