Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he revealed how to promote hair growth without a trip to the salon.
SURPRISING SOLUTIONS
A healthy environment is necessary for longer locks alongside making styling choices that minimize damage.
Dr. Rajput said frequent use of heat tools can cause breakage and slow growth.
He recommends using a heat protectant when necessary and air-drying tresses to reduce damage.
“Avoid hairstyles that pull tightly on the hair, like ponytails or braids, as this can cause traction alopecia,” he said.
“Opt for looser hairstyles to reduce strain on your hair and limit the amount of hair loss and breakage.”
He revealed hair health can also be improved by quickly tackling split ends.
“While it may seem counterintuitive, trimming your hair every six to eight weeks helps remove split ends, preventing further breakage and allowing hair to grow longer and healthier,” he said.
“So regular trims are actually very beneficial for improving hair length.”
INCREDIBLE INGREDIENTS
A scalp massage of just five to 10 minutes a day can be beneficial for improving blood circulation which is necessary for hair growth.
However, results can be hindered by not regularly cleansing the scalp.
Dr. Rajput said excess oil, dirt, and product buildup clog hair follicles leading to hair loss.
“Choose a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo to keep your hair hydrated and healthy,” he said.
“Sulfates can strip your hair of its natural oils.
Vitamins like biotin, vitamin D, and vitamin E, as well as minerals like zinc and iron, are essential for hair health.

“Conditioning the hair regularly helps to keep hair moisturized and reduces breakage.
“Look for products with ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil, and shea butter.
“ And also consider natural remedies. These oils are known for their moisturizing and nourishing properties.
“Apply them as a pre-shampoo treatment or leave them in overnight for deeper hydration.”
He said aloe vera soothes and conditions to promote hair growth.
Apply it directly to the scalp and let it sit for about an hour before washing it out.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
A healthy diet including protein-rich foods is necessary alongside topical treatments.
“Hair is primarily made of keratin, a type of protein,” said Dr. Rajput.
“Ensure your diet includes plenty of protein-rich foods like eggs, fish, nuts, and legumes, a vital aspect of strong, healthy hair.
“Vitamins and Minerals are also super important.
“Vitamins like biotin, vitamin D, and vitamin E, as well as minerals like zinc and iron, are essential for hair health.
“Also consider foods like leafy greens, avocados, nuts, and seeds.”
Supplements such as biotin, omega-3 fatty acids, and a hair, skin, and nail formula can be used to support a dietary deficiency.
“Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water to keep your scalp and hair consistently hydrated,” he said.
“Dehydration can make hair dry and prone to breakage.”
DON’T WORRY
Dr. Rajput emphasized the importance of minimizing stress as it can lead to hair loss, also known as telogen effluvium.
“Practice stress-reducing activities like yoga, meditation, or regular exercise to maintain overall health, which in turn supports hair growth,” he said.
“Sleeping on a silk pillow or wearing a silk head covering at night can reduce friction on your hair, preventing breakage and frizz, and keeping your hair healthier.”
