Trump’s first outdoor rally behind bulletproof glass since assassination attempt
Former U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech on Wednesday at a rally in North Carolina while protected by a bulletproof glass shield and surrounded by snipers positioned on nearby buildings.
This was Trump’s first open-air speech since the failed assassination attempt on July 13.
The speech, which took place in Asheboro, North Carolina, was part of Trump’s ongoing campaign efforts.
Following the attempted assassination last month in Pennsylvania, the Secret Service had advised Trump to avoid holding rallies in open spaces.
According to American media reports, the Secret Service also ordered the provision of bulletproof glass shields for use in emergencies throughout the country.
While the use of bulletproof glass shields in the U.S. is typically reserved for current presidents, it seems the Secret Service has made an exception for Trump.
In the shooting incident last month, Trump was injured in the ear, and one attendee was killed.
Since the attack, Trump has attended at least 12 campaign rallies, all of which have been held indoors.
The increased security measures underscore the heightened risks associated with Trump’s public appearances, reflecting the ongoing concerns over his safety and the contentious atmosphere surrounding his political activities.
