'Wait a minute!' Anderson Cooper shuts down Trump supporter's claim DNC is light on policy

Republican Scott Jennings tried to argue Wednesday that nobody at the Democratic National Convention has voiced a clear policy and instead expects voters to react to vague concepts such as “joy.”

He got immediate pushback from CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

Jennings was reacting to ex-Barack Obama aide Van Jones — and co-panel member on the network — who gushed with enthusiasm over Tim Walz’s closing speech as the Minnesota governor accepted the vice presidential nomination.

“Nobody said anything, nobody tonight said a damn thing,” Jennings, a GOP strategist, responded.

“They want you to vote on the ticket based on no concrete idea of what they would do once they got an office. … Tonight you heard people say, we may not agree with him on everything, but it will be joyful.

“I think the idea that you can run an entire presidential campaign based on the idea of vote for me to find out what is in it …”

That’s when a laughing Cooper cut him off.

“Wait a minute!” he said. “Your candidate has done that his entire political career. He doesn't talk about any policy issue.

“He will lower inflation on day one and he will take away Obamacare on day one, and he will be tougher on immigration.

“I do understand your argument, but given the candidate that you are backing, it rings a little hollow because there isn't any flesh on the bone.”
