Lily Allen’s Comments About Teaching Childbirth to Young Children Has Split Fans

Lily Allen has always been blunt about her life and opinions, from the music industry to motherhood. And now, she’s talking about what she believes children should learn in their schooling, including how young children should learn about childbirth and proper sex education.

During her and radio personality Miquita Oliver’s BBC podcast Miss Me?, in their episode called Listen B***h! School of Lyf, they talked about schooling and parenthood.

When asked about what they believe should be talked about in school, Allen discussed how they should teach kids about taxes, personal finances, legal, and yes, childbirth.

“Childbirth and what that actually means, what bringing a child into the world entails and what effect that can have on your life, other than just having a little baby that’s very sweet and very nice to play with and very cuddly,” she said.

Now, many people, including celebrities, have talked about the importance of comprehensive reproduction education for young children. Per AAP, it can help develop a positive view of sexuality, can help make safe decisions about sexual health, and more.

Per US Express, these comments have become controversial, with many misquoting her words; and fans couldn’t be more split about this.

Via DailyMail, many are against this, saying things like “Particularly in the world we live in, children need their innocence protected,” and many who approve of Allen’s comments retorted, saying, “What do you mean by “innocence protected”? Nothing wrong with young children learning about life and how things work.”

The Black Widow star and Allen started dating back in 2019, eloping in Las Vegas soon after in 2020. After that, Harbour officially became the stepfather to Allen’s two daughters  Ethel Mary, born in Nov 2011, and Marnie Rose, born in Jan 2013.

Allen had her daughters with ex-husband Sam Cooper, whom she was with from 2009 to 2016.

In a 2019 questionnaire with Stylist, Allen called her children her “favorite work of art” and said the best part about being a mom is her children. She also noted the person she spends the most time with, out of anyone, is her eldest daughter Ethel.
