Lockhart Police arrest juvenile in connection with first homicide of 2024

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A juvenile was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a 20-year-old man who was found dead last week in Lockhart, the city of Lockhart said in a news release.

The juvenile suspect was charged with murder after Carlos Sanchez died Aug. 16 from "multiple gunshot wounds," according to the city.

"The juvenile was found at a home on East Market and Carver Streets at approximately 9:30 a.m.," the city said in the release.

The juvenile tried to run but was "arrested without incident," the release said.

"Four adult suspects were also arrested today, Wednesday, August 21, for harboring a fugitive," the city said.

According to LPD, the investigation is still ongoing.

LPD said the U.S. Marshals, Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, the Caldwell District Attorney's Office, as well as the Juvenile Probation Office of Caldwell County, assisted in the investigation.
