Trump ‘happy’ for role in Biden ‘demise’: ‘He’s an angry man now’

Former President Trump said he was happy to play a role in President Biden’s “demise,” suggesting Biden has become an “angry man” since dropping out of the race.

“I watched Joe Biden Monday night, and was amazed at his ANGER at being humiliated by the Democrats,” Trump posted to his Truth Social site. “I was happy to have played a part in his demise in that it all began on the evening of June 27, 2024, THE DEBATE, which I think was heavily pushed and promoted by Comrade Kamala Harris.”

The former president claimed that Biden, who is currently on vacation in California, is “unhappily sunbathing” while thinking about “how much he hates” former President Obama, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and actor George Clooney. He was referring to a list of Democrats who pressed the incumbent to step aside after a poor debate performance against Trump in June.

“The good news is that I believe Joe Biden, the Worst President in the History of the United States, who served with the Worst Vice President in the History of the United States, is now seething,” Trump’s post said.

Still, the former president questioned why Biden he "gave up" and withdrew his candidacy.

Biden has maintained that he ended his bid for the White House in order to give the Democratic ticket the best chance of beating Trump.

After the debate in late June — where he appeared to lack energy, had a raspy voice and seemed to lose his train of thought — concern grew among Democrats about Biden’s ability to beat Trump. They also questioned whether he was capable of serving another four years if reelected and what impact it would have on the House and Senate races.

After weeks of speculation, Biden announced in late July that he would no longer seek reelection. He later endorsed Vice President Harris to take the baton and challenge Trump in November.

In the weeks since, he’s supported Harris’s campaign. Biden delivered a forceful, yet bittersweet address Monday at the Democratic National Convention. During the speech, he labeled Trump as a “loser” and rallied supporters for the vice president.

“Above all, we need you to beat Donald Trump and elect Kamala and Tim president and vice president of the United States of America,” Biden, referring to Harris's running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), told delegates at the convention.
