It comes after former Labour MP and anchor Ed Balls was blasted by viewers for interviewing his wife and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.

Over 8,000 angry ITV viewers complained to TV watchdog Ofcom.

Following the complaints, Ed, 57, took a break from Good Morning Britain.

However, now it’s been revealed GMB – which has Susanna Reid at the helm – has been rocked with more grievances.

A further avalanche of grievances have resulted in the show hitting 16,783 complaints.

A spokesperson for Ofcom said: “We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.”

ITV viewers had branded Ed’s interview with wife Yvette has “surreal” and accused him of going “low ball” on her.

Confirming his temporary exit from Good Morning Britain, Ed held a pavlova cake in his hands.

He told fans he would return alongside Susanna Reid after he summer break next month.

Ed said: “Loved working with Kate [Garraway] last week during such national turbulent times.

“I’m back with Susanna at the beginning of September when schools and Parliament return – see you soon.”
