'Prolific tagger' sentenced to prison for spray painting hundreds of Portland buildings
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A “prolific” Portland tagger will spend two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to using his moniker “KASR” to spray paint buildings throughout the city.
Back in February, Jerry A. Mijangos was accused of tagging hundreds of buildings since 2023, after which police called him “one of the most prolific graffiti vandals.” On Monday, he pled guilty to two counts each of first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal mischief.
Portland Police Bureau Chief Bob Day said this sentencing should send a message to others tagging in the city that the crime “will not be tolerated.”
“Graffiti remains a significant concern for our community. It is one of the most common complaints I hear about, and I understand the reason behind it,” Chief Day said. “Senseless vandalism makes a city look neglected and tarnishes its image.”
