I actually prefer a $7 lip mask dupe that’s half the price of Laneige – my pout is slightly fuller & peels a lot less
DRY lips are a thing of the past for one beauty fan who found the perfect dupe for a pricey cult favorite.
Her lip mask is half the cost of Laneige, yet still gives her a fuller pout.
A Redditor said her lip mask “dupe” from Elf exceeds the performance of “the OG” in a post on the platform.
“Laneige feels like Vaseline on my lips compared to the ‘Holy Hydration’ lip mask,” she gushed.
“Plus it comes with a little spatula. [It] smells a bit like grape, but it’s very subtle.”
Laneige has been touted by beauty influencers for its moisturizing effects, leading to a cult following for the product.
SOFT SMOOCH
The Redditor gushed over the lip mask dupe for helping her maintain a healthier pout.
“My lips have appeared slightly fuller and have been peeling a lot less,” she said.
“I usually have to avoid squalene, but this one actually works for me.”
Several other Redditors attested to the Elf lip mask over the Laneige version.
“I think it’s a good dupe,” one wrote.
“I never thought the Laneige was worth the $20, but the Elf one feels hydrating and smoothing, almost plumping overnight.
“I own both and I keep the elf one to put on before I start my makeup.”
Another said they use an even cheaper product on their lips, which may not work for everyone.
“I used to use the Laneige lip mask, but I switched to Vaseline Lip Therapy in the small tub,” they said.
“It actually stays on all night, lasts for months, and costs about $2. I can never go back.”
“Vaseline makes my lips peel like crazy, so this was a better option for me,” the original poster replied.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C, $24, Sephora.
Elf Holy Hydration! Lip Mask, $7, Ulta.
THE DIFFERENCE
According to the brand, Elf uses hyaluronic acid, squalane, and castor seed oil to promote hydration, anti-aging, and lock in moisture.
The Laneige lip mask contains antioxidants from its “Berry Fruit Complex” as well as moisture from murumuru seed and shea butter.
The Elf lip mask can be used day or night and combined with other lip products.
Laneige’s lip mask is advertised for overnight use, but many beauty influencers use it all day long for its moisture content and flattering shine.
“I’ve been using this for about a month now and I use it both day and night,” one Sephora reviewer wrote of the Laneige lip mask.
“I personally have chronically dry lips to the point where they crack and bleed. This has saved them they look like normal lips every single day.”
