Weekend preview: Home double as Women face final preseason test

Royal Wootton Bassett Town are set for a home doubleheader this weekend with the Women's First Team and Development sides both in action at the Sustain Stadium. On Sunday, Adam Wood's team complete their preparations for the 2024-25 South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North campaign as they entertain Forest Green Rovers in their final friendly (2pm kick off). Their fourth match against higher level opponents, Bassett will be hoping for a positive performance with next week's Women's FA Cup season opener looming. Prior to that the Development team welcome Shrewton United in the Wiltshire League Premier Division on Saturday (3pm kick off). Last season's fixture between the two teams at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground produced an eight goal thriller with Bassett winning 6-2. Shrewton did avenge that defeat later in the season though, winning 4-2 when at home. Admission for both fixtures is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members. There's a rare Saturday off for the Men's First Team courtesy of the first qualifying round of the Isuzu FA Vase taking place.
