Jeweller arrested for accepting gold stolen from church

A 46-year-old jeweller was arrested on Tuesday for accepting gold artefacts stolen from a church on August 17.

Two men, aged 47 and 44, are already in custody since August 18 for allegedly selling the artefacts to a jeweller’s shop in Nicosia.

The owner of the shop, who was arrested by court order and was placed in custody, appears to have admitted accepting the gold and melting it down.

The police are continuing investigations.
