'Going to stick in Trump's craw': CNN host laughs after DNC ratings leave RNC in dust

Tens of millions of people tuned in to the first night of the Democratic National Convention — and one CNN host believes that's sure to resonate with former President Donald Trump.

Host Wolf Blitzer said on "The Situation Room" ahead of the second night of the DNC that "tens of millions" of Americans watched the first night — a number that could go even higher with former President Barack Obama slated to take the stage for Kamala Harris on Tuesday night.

Chris Wallace told fellow panelists that DNC's ratings were even higher than its Republican counterpart.

"What's interesting, just as a quick point, more people watched the first night of the Democratic convention than the first night of the Republican convention."

Wallace then jabbed Trump as the panel laughed, noting that "for a man who thinks ratings are more important than anything, that is really going to stick in Donald Trump's craw."

The first night of the DNC averaged about 20 million viewers across 13 networks, according to Nielsen. Those numbers were for the 10 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Eastern Time period.

For comparison, the first night of the RNC averaged about 18 million for the 10 p.m. hour across 12 networks.
