Colonie PD, Jordyn's Journey host school supply donation drive
LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local police department joined forces with a local non-profit to collect school supplies. The Colonie Police Department and Jordyn's Journey hosted a school supply drive in Latham on Tuesday.
Jordyn's Journey is run by a local student, who has collected backpacks, notebooks and art supplies for the past four years. The supplies go to Jordyn's old elementary school, the United Way, and the Albany Police Athletic League.
"It's a sad reality that some kids don't have school supplies, so when a local group or local kids want to do something good for their community and give these supplies to those kids, if we can help in any way, that's what we're here for," Colonie Police Chief James Gerace said.
