Go phone-free: Company offers $2K for a week-long digital detox

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A company is offering $2,000 to unplug and go phone-free for a whole week.

iGamingNuts announced Tuesday that it is "Now Hiring: Someone to Go Back in Time." The company is looking into how a week-long digital detox can affect someone. They want to give a "self-diagnosed phone addict" $2,000 and a "dumb" phone to use for a week.

The participant will be asked not to use computers, which does not include what is needed for work. They will be asked to rate their experience through several categories while documenting their time through the detox.

The experiences the participant will be rating are:

  • Adaptability and problem-solving
  • Impact on daily routine
  • Social interaction quality
  • Mindfulness and mental health
  • Rediscovery of time and hobbies
  • Reflection and personal growth

Once the week is over, the participant must use the above experiences to document their detox and send in a written report.

The last day to apply is Sept. 15, and you can learn more and enter here.
