Nuki's shot at Thorslund postponed to October
Back in July we saw news break that Japanese fighter Terumi Nuki (15-5, 10) [貫輝美] would be getting her 4th shot at a world title as she was set to face the unbeaten Dina Thorslund (22-0, 9), for the WBO and WBC Bantamweight titles, in August. Today however it was announced that the bout won’t be taking place in August, instead it has been pushed back to October due to Thorslund suffering an injury in training.
The bout, scheduled for 30th August originally, will now be taking place on October 5th, giving Thorslund time to recover from the injury, which is reported to have been a cut around her left eyelid.
The delay will be a disappointment in some ways for Nuki, but it will also give her extra time to prepare for what is her first world title fight in more than 6 years, and could very possibly be her last opportunity to win a world title. Saying that even with the extra time to prepare she will continue to be the under-dog against the double champion.
