TOPEKA (KSNT) - Vice-President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are now officially certified as the presidential and vice-presidential nominees for the Democrat Party in Kansas.

The Kansas Secretary of State's (SOS) Office shared Monday, Aug. 20 through a social media post that Harris and Walz are the Democrat Party's nominees for the presidency following official certification. Their names will now appear on the Nov. 5 General Election ballot.

Harris and Walz were selected as the party's nominees following the delegate vote at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago. The DNC is being held for three days in the Windy City.

All political parties have until Sept. 1 to send in the names of their respective presidential electors to the SOS. There is no deadline for the national parties to certify their nominees for the office of president.

The SOS candidate lists online show the Harris-Walz ticket now appearing alongside other presidential hopefuls. Republican candidates, former President Donald Trump and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, and Libertarian candidates, Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat, are already listed on the SOS website.
