CNN panelists spar as Republican warns 'bread lines' would be 'optimistic' if Trump loses

As a Republican CNN panelist warned that "bread lines" could be an optimistic outcome under Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, a Democratic strategist scoffed — and said his counterpart sounds like he's adopted the "Trump vibe."

The exchange unfolded Tuesday night, during the Democratic National Convention, between Republican strategist Scott Jennings and Democratic strategist David Axelrod.

During the segment, Jennings said the GOP will have to "counter" Democratic "vibes" by focusing on the economics of the election.

"Bloomberg is reporting that the fed is about to downwardly revise jobs by 1 million. Harris apparently has endorsed a capital gains increase and a 25 percent tax on unrealized capital gains," he said.

"I mean, bread lines and hoarding and black markets may be an optimistic future at this point if she keeps going."

The possibly hyperbolic statement led Axelrod to retort, "Well you're picking up on the Trump vibe there. The world is going to hell."

Axelrod's jab led to an audible chuckle from fellow panelist Van Jones, but didn't deter Jennings.

"I'm sorry if the president of the United States implemented those kinds of tax increases, we're all going to be fighting each other for the last few crumbs down in the hallway here," he said.

To which Axelrod replied: that's essentially Trump's message.

"It is lunacy," said Jennings. "If they're going to run on vibes, Trump's going to have to paint a policy picture, and we're going to see if he can do it."
