Match Preview: Rangers v Queen’s Park – 21 Aug 24

0

Queen’s Park travel away from home to face Rangers under the lights of Broadwood Stadium tomorrow night in ScottishPower WPL 1 action, with an 8pm kick-off.

The Spiders first away match of the new season comes ten days after their home opener, and the side have had to wait an extended period for the tie due to the postponement of their match against Dundee United on Sunday past saw both teams go without match minutes at the weekend. The rescheduled fixture is set to take place on the 28th of August at Foundation Park with an 8PM kick off.

Craig Joyce knows the side will face another tough test, but is confident there can still be improvements in the performance from last time out. Joyce commented: “We’ve had to wait a while to get another match in the system after last weekend, but we are raring to go. We know that tomorrow’s game is going to be another extremely challenging test for us, but that’s the joys of playing at the top table – you ge to play the best of the best.

“We know that playing both Hearts and Rangers is a tough opening, and where it leaves us in terms of our seat at the table. These games won’t define our season but will provide a fantastic experience for our young group of players moving forward.

“Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take away from the opening game. I’ve challenged the girls to go and build on them, and take confidence on the things we managed to do well.”

Rangers will take on hosting duties with full confidence after Jo Potter led her side to victories over Aberdeen and Partick Thistle; 11-0 and 4-0 respectively. With Rangers being pipped to the title last season on goal difference, they will be keen to avoid a repeat of that this year, and the The Spiders are likely to face a very attacking line-up.
