Scott: There Are No Easy Games

Hibs Women Head Coach Grant Scott touched on a number of different talking points while speaking to the media ahead of his side's SWPL fixture versus Dundee United.

The Hibees are looking to continue on with their strong start to the new campaign - winning two from two to kick-off the 2024/25 season - with a home win over Dundee United.

Despite besting Partick Thistle on the opening weekend and comfortably defeating Aberdeen on Sunday, Scott is rightly cautious ahead of Wednesday's clash.

"If you go back 12 months, we played Dundee United similarly midweek in our third match and we drew 0-0," he recalls.

"We have got that as a reminder. Despite what you might think, whether it's their league position or how many goals they lose, that has no bearing on it.

"You have to look after yourself and knock over what it in front of you. There are no easy games at all."

On United, Scott is keen to see how the rebuilt Tangerines perform following a large turnover in the summer, and how they react to having the weekend off.

"It's an interesting dynamic because we have had that extra game now. They missed a game at the weekend. I'm not sure how it is going to work.

"Are they going to fly out the traps really sharp or are we going to be that little sharper since we had an extra competitive match?

"This summer has been [Suzy Shepherd's] time for re-forming that group, as players have arrived and gone.

"It'll be a tough one to break them down, I'm sure."

Reflecting on Sunday's excellent performance against Aberdeen, which resulted in a 7-0 victory for the Hibees, Scott was glad to reap the rewards for a hard week's work leading up to the game.

"It's really pleasing when you've scored so many, kept a clean sheet and never really looked in any danger during the game.

"It's good to see the work that goes into the matchday pay off, and you see the players coming away feeling good with a victory."

On in-form winger Tegan Bowie - who has netted three times in two league starts - Scott admitted he was "delighted" with her "great start" to the season.

"Tegan is a special player. An exciting player.

"If you are in the crowd watching, you want to see her take people on and score goals.

"She's still a young player with lots of potential. Long may it continue. She has the potential still to improve."
