Foreign Ministry claims potential 9/11-style attack more likely to originate from Pakistan, not Afghanistan

The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the remarks made by Pakistan’s envoy about the potential 9/11-style attack originating from Afghanistan are untrue and an attempt to “mislead public opinion.”

The Taliban asserted that the threats mentioned by Asif Durrani are actually more likely to originate from within Pakistan.

Earlier, Asif Durrani had warned that another 9/11-style attack could potentially occur from Afghanistan.

In response to these comments, the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying, “The dangers and issues that Pakistani envoy has attributed to Afghanistan are, in reality, more likely to arise from Pakistan.”

Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesman of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, claimed on Tuesday, August 20, that the Taliban government has completely suppressed ISIS. He added, “If the hideouts of ISIS across the Durand Line are eliminated, the threat from this group can be entirely eradicated.”

The statement emphasized that the issue of the Pakistani Taliban is an internal matter for Pakistan and requires a domestic solution.

The deputy spokesman of the Taliban also mentioned that Mr. Durrani, as a diplomat, should avoid making “provocative” statements in the media that could harm relations between countries.

The Taliban’s firm response highlights their denial of the accusations and their insistence on a domestic resolution for Pakistan’s internal issues.

The exchange underscores the tension between the two nations and the need for diplomatic caution to maintain regional stability.
