NEW YORK (PIX11) – A pit bull attacked a pizzeria employee in Manhattan Monday night, sources told PIX11 News.

It happened inside 144 5th Ave. in the Flatiron District around 9:45 p.m., according to authorities. A 35-year-old man allegedly walked into Roma Pizza with the pit bull, who was unleashed, sources said.

The 50-year-old pizzeria employee got into an argument with the man after telling him to leave with the dog, according to sources. That's when the dog attacked the employee, sources said.

The employee was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue where he's in critical condition, per police.

The 35-year-old man was taken into custody, according to authorities. His dog is still alive and being held at the precinct, sources said.
