The beloved programme is returning for a third outing – and fans don’t have long to wait.

New episodes will be available to watch or stream from 9pm on Monday, September 2 on More 4.

The format sees Matt, his mum Janice and dad Mike take on journeys across the North of England.

They have visited locations including The Lake District, Durham Cathedral and Bamburgh Castle.

Matt said: “These travels are real treasures, it’s such a treat for me to be able to head off and explore with my parents, we have such a laugh!

“But if taking my folks and a caravan out and about isn’t challenging enough, this time we’re taking a puppy along for the ride!

“All of these the trips are planned around what I think my parents are going love and I’m proud to say we haven’t picked a duff one yet.

“I feel very lucky to be able to make new memories with them, making the most of the time we have together, all whilst celebrating the wonderful North of England.”

It comes as Matt previously revealed the aftermath of experiencing a freak accident while on stage.

During rehearsals for a panto last December, the former One Show presenter suffered a fall which left him in debilitating pain.

In April, Matt revealed how he was unable to bend over following his injury.

Speaking to Gabby Logan on the Mid Point podcast, he shared: “I’ve injured my back.

“I can’t tell you how upsetting it is as an ex-gymnast, not to be able to bend forward.”

Matt added: “I did my back in. I was doing a panto.

“I was doing Goldilocks and the Three Bears and we were practising with the stunt chairs, and the chair wasn’t set correctly and bang!

Countryfile presenting team

Agricultural programme Countryfile launched on the BBC in 1988. In its long history, the show's seen several presenters come and go. Let's take a look at the current line-up.

  • John Craven: The longest-serving presenter, having debuted in 1989, John is also known for his work on Newsround from 1972–1989.
  • Adam Henson: Adam, who comes from a farming family, joined the presenting team in 2001. His other media work includes BBC Radio 4’s Farming Today and BBC Two’s Lambing Live.
  • Matt Baker: Having joined the line-up in 2009, Matt also presented The One Show alongside Alex Jones from 2011 to 2020. Before that, he hosted Blue Peter from 1999 to 2006.
  • Tom Heap: Tom joined Countryfile in 2009 and in April 2012, he took over the investigative reporter role from John Craven. He has also presented The Climate Show on Sky News.
  • Helen Skelton: Another former Blue Peter presenter, she hosted the beloved children’s programme from 2008 to 2013. Helen joined the Countryfile team in 2014 and has competed in Strictly Come Dancing.
  • Anita Rani: Anita was added to Countryfile in 2015 and has presented other programmes for the Beeb including The Refugee Camp: Our Desert Home, among others.
  • Sean Fletcher: Newsreader and presenter Sean joined Countryfile in 2015. He is also known for Good Morning Britain, Songs of Praise and BBC Breakfast.

“I went down on my coccyx and it turns out I slipped a disc in my back.”

This puts pressure on nerve endings and spinal cords, which can be very painful.

Matt’s other work with Channel 4 includes Our Dream Farm, which launched in April.

Matt Baker: Travels with Mum & Dad will be available to watch or stream from 9pm on Monday, September 2 on More 4.
