“Didn’t perform that well”: Rinku Singh’s honest opinion on his Duleep Trophy snub
Indian left-handed batter Rinku Singh believes that his last season’s Raji Trophy form is the reason behind him not getting selected in the squads announced by BCCI for the first round of Duleep Trophy.
Rinku, who has become an integral part of India’s T20I lineup, has a decent record in first-class cricket. The Uttar Pradesh batter has scored 3173 runs at an average of over 50 in 47 matches. He has also scored a total of 7 centuries in the format so far. However, he didn’t play many matches in the Ranji Trophy last season.
“Nothing…I didn’t perform that well (in the domestic season). I didn’t play many matches in the Ranji Trophy…I played 2-3 matches. I wasn’t selected because I didn’t play that well. I might get selected for next-round matches,” Rinku told Sportstak.
Rinku is touted as the next big finisher for India in the shortest format of the game. He has a great record while playing for India in the format, with 418 runs in 23 matches at an astonishing average of 59.71. In a very short career, he has already won numerous T20I matches for the Men in Blue.
Rinku also made his ODI debut in December last year but is yet to get a chance in Test cricket. However, he did travel with the Indian team for the Test series against England earlier this year.
