Man United want to sell star who missed 22 games last season by 30th Aug
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has been linked with a move away from the club and the Red Devils are prepared to sell him this summer.
According to a report from Football Insider, they are ready to sell the Swedish international before 30th August.
Manchester United are looking to get rid of their fringe players and they have identified the 30-year-old as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have already improved their defensive unit with the signs of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt. They will not be able to accommodate Lindelof in the starting lineup and it makes sense for them to sell the player this summer.
The 30-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition for most clubs. He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and an exit from Manchester United would be ideal for him.
The defender is in the final year of his contract and Manchester United do not want to lose him on a free transfer. It is understandable why they want to sell him now.
Man United need to cash in on Victor Lindelof
Manchester United will be hoping to compete for major trophies this season. They need better players at their disposal if they want to match up to the european elite. While there is no doubt that the Swedish international defender is a quality player, he is not good enough to start for a club hoping to win the league or the Champions League in the coming seasons.
In addition to that, his injury issues are a major concern. The defender missed 22 games for club and country last season. Manchester United need to invest in reliable performers with impressive availability if they want to compete on all fronts.
Lindelof needs a fresh start as well and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
