MANY parents end up spending hundreds on school shoes for their kids, because they just won’t last the whole year.

However, one mum has revealed there’s one pair she swears by – and that’s even with a “boisterous” son.

It can be hard – especially if you’ve got boys – to try and find shoes that will last the daily wear and tear for an entire school year[/caption]

Alecia took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to share her suggestion, writing: “Anyone that’s still looking for school shoes – I get these for my very boisterous son and they last him the whole school year.”

She also shared a screenshot of the black shoes – the Geox Boy’s Jr Savage a Shoes.

Amazon have them for £25 in some sizes,” she added.

“I usually pay £50 for them!”

And the comments section was almost immediately filled with people agreeing with Alecia.

“The best one,” one wrote.

“We only change them because my son needs a size up!”

“We got these for my son because the shop said they were the most hard wearing shoes they had and were pretty much destruction proof.

“They’d last 6 months before they were totally trashed!

“We did get about 6 or 7 pairs of them in a row as nothing else was as good.

“Heaven knows what he would do in them!”

“My son’s had a pair for over a year, still pretty perfect condition,” a third commented.

Best school shoes ever,” someone else said.

“My boy had the same pair every year of primary school and he never wore them out, just outgrew them!”

“I bought these for the last 3 years, they’re brilliant,” another wrote.

As someone else said: “As someone who fitted school shoes of all brands for over 10 years I would grab these if you have boys.

“Excellent shoes – they last really well and are good quality too!

“The girls’ ones are also excellent.

EXTRA HELP WITH SCHOOL UNIFORM COSTS

IF you can't get targeted help from your council, you might have some other options available to you.

In some areas, you can talk directly to your school, which might be able to offer you clothing.

Or, you might be able to get cheap garments from low-budget shops or charity stores.

Some charities offer help to families in need too.

But bear in mind charities often have a limited amount of money to give and usually have specific criteria which must be met in order to get a grant.

Charity Turn2Us has a free grants search tool on its website which you can use to find out what help is available to you.

Meanwhile, you can always try approaching your nearest Citizens’ Advice branch.

If you don’t know where your nearest Citizens’ Advice branch is, you can find out by visiting www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/nearby/.

If you’re not eligible for a school uniform grant you might be able to get help through the Household Support Fund.

“GEOX can be a little small fitting as they are Italian but Italian shoes are fabulous!”

“My nephew had these Geox Savage ones and yes they are pretty indestructible,” another added.

“They have them at TK Maxx also. Size 8.5 only online for £20 or likely to have other sizes instore.”

And others used the comments section to offer their own suggestions for hard-wearing school shoes.

“Adidas tensaurs are also brill. Lasted my son the full school year,” one wrote.

“STARTRITE STRIKE are fantastic and have lasted all year for 3 years in a row!” another added.

As a third shared a snap of a pair of ToeZone boys’ school shoes from Sainsbury’s, adding: “These are also really good from Sainsbury’s as I’ve found the Amazon ones never have my son’s size.

“These have lasted so well!”
