Asian markets mostly rise after Wall Street extends its winning streak to longest of the year

Asian stocks are mostly rising after Wall Street pushed closer to record highs following its roller coaster of a summer. The Nikkei 225 index was up 1.8%. U.S. futures were slightly higher while oil prices fell. The S&P 500 rose 1% Monday for its eighth-straight gain, its longest winning streak since November. It's back within 1% of its record set last month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.6%, and the Nasdaq composite added 1.4%. Treasury yields held steady ahead of a highly anticipated speech on Friday from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Almost everyone expects the Fed to cut rates at its next meeting in September. Powell could give hints on how many cuts will come and how quickly.
