I like him.
I think he is extremely limited and I also think that he is acutely aware of his own limitations. Because of this he tries to be super-pragmatic and place enormous importance on things like fitness and the basics. It also means he does things like let DCL fully recover before rushing him back because he would rather have a fit striker for the last 5 games than risk him for the last 10.
He plays totally safe, all the time and this can be seen in his over cautious tactics, his sticking with his favourites and his late and limited substitutions.
He is what he is, but right now he’s the right man for the job. Until the boardroom shit gets sorted and Thelwell starts delivering a squad for the future, he’ll do.
