FORMER Coronation street star Michelle Keegan has scored a hat trick of her own in the National Television Awards nominations.

The Sky show she stars in, Brassic, has been nominated in the Comedy category and her Netflix thriller, Fool Me Once, is nominated in the New Drama category.

The programme, which aired earlier this year, also sees her nominated for the best Drama Performance for playing beleaguered ex-military wife Maya Stern.

The adaptation of Harlan Coben’s book became one of the streaming giant’s biggest ever hits, with over 100 million views around the globe and Michelle, 37, is expected to continue making dramas with Netflix.

Although she has previously been nominated four times at the NTAs, Michelle is yet to win one, so is hoping this is finally her year.

She was nominated for Most Popular Newcomer for Coronation Street in 2008, and twice for Serial Drama Performance for Corrie in 2013 and 2014.

In 2019, she lost out on the gong for Drama Performance for the BBC’s Our Girl.

Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing viewers have thrown their support behind the beleaguered show by nominating it three times in this year’s NTAs.

Over the past ten months the BBC One show has been hit by a string of allegations about the behaviour of some of its biggest stars behind the scenes.

Despite this it has been nominated in the Talent Show category of the NTAs, which are entirely voted for by the public.

Meanwhile co-host Claudia Winkleman is up for the best TV Presenter gong and judge Anton du Beke has a nod in the Expert category.

A TV insider said: “This is a much-needed vote of confidence for the dance show, which has been buffeted by a string of allegations recently.

“It shows that although the public are shocked by the revelations that have emerged they also love the show and want to lend their support.

“In previous years other shows that have fallen out of favour with viewers have suffered when it came time for the nominations.

“But it seems  Strictly is still being backed to the hilt by millions of Brits as the contest celebrates its 20th anniversary.”

NTA host Joel Dommett is shining up the all-important trophies as the UK’s leading TV Awards event returns to The O2 London.
