Converse Preps the Chuck 70 for Fall and Winter With Gore-Tex Waterproofing

0

The Converse Chuck 70 is getting reinforced for fall and winter.

The Converse Chuck 70 Gore-Tex will release this fall with military hues to match the sneaker’s ruggedness. Two colorways for the waterproof sneaker have emerged at European sneaker boutiques, both of which feature a repeating “Gore-Tex” text hit wrapping around the top of the midsole. Options are available in black and khaki or olive and black, both of which feature a white sole unit with black striping. Additional Gore-Tex branding arrives through a hangtag on the lateral heel.

While each shoe’s primary color forms the canvas upper, its secondary color is used for the repeating Gore-Tex logo and Converse All-Star mark on the shoe’s medial side. The black variant also features a khaki liner, and the olive version opts for white.

Converse launched the Chuck 70 in 2013, and the model’s construction is similar to those of the basketball shoe’s from the time period that gives it its name. Compared to the Chuck Taylor All Star, the Chuck 70 features thicker soles with taller foxing. Its double-ply canvas is also more robust than the single-ply used for the All Star, and a modern OrthoLite insole offers more comfort. Retro details on the Chuck 70 also include an off-white sole and vintage branding.

A stateside release hasn’t yet been confirmed for the Converse Chuck 70 Gore-Tex, but the sneakers should arrive soon to follow the European release. BSTN will ship pairs to the U.S., however, with pricing set at $135.
