The Shoe Surgeon to Release Sneaker Capsule Inspired by Cadillac’s Electric Vehicles
It’s all about cars and tennis for custom footwear designer Dominic Ciambrone, a.k.a. the Shoe Surgeon, this month.
For his latest tie-up, Ciambrone has created a range of custom sneakers with Cadillac directly inspired by the auto company’s electric vehicle (EV) portfolio – the Cadillac LyrIQ, CelestIQ, OptIQ, and Escalade IQ.
To bring the collection to life, the Surgeon team collaborated with Cadillac designers and artisans in-person at General Motors’ Design Center in Warren, Mich. The teams drew influence from the design detailing of each vehicle and incorporated elements of the specific cars, including interior leathers and upholstery patterning, textiles, and stitching techniques, as well as interior and exterior paint colors and design cues into the sneakers.
The exclusive four-piece collection of custom Cadillac x Surgeon shoes will all be available for purchase for a limited time only on CadillacSignature.com beginning Sept. 8. Only five pairs of each EV shoe nameplate (20 total) will be sold.
Pricing will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the USTA Foundation’s Frances Tiafoe Fund.
Plus, as the official vehicle sponsor of the US Open tennis tournament, Cadillac also collaborated with Surgeon on custom sneakers inspired by the personal story of professional tennis player and Cadillac brand ambassador, Francis Tiafoe.
According to Cadillac, one pair will be auctioned via CharityBuzz.com to support the USTA Foundation’s Frances Tiafoe Fund, which provides philanthropic support for free or low-cost tennis programming and academic services to more than 130,000 student-athletes annually.
At the 2024 US Open Fan Experience, both the Frances Tiafoe collaboration sneakers and the wider Cadillac collection will be on display in the automotive company’s showroom alongside the vehicles that served as inspiration.
The Shoe Surgeon is known for his unique takes on popular styles. Recent collaborations from Ciambrone and his team included a tie-up with Lanvin, DraftKings and even Eggo waffles.
