Three abducted citizens rescued from Kidnappers in Nangarhar Province
The 999 National Unit of the Special Police Forces of the Ministry of Interior successfully rescued three abducted citizens from kidnappers in Nangarhar province.
These individuals were kidnapped by unknown assailants from Sheikh Misri town in Nangarhar province yesterday around 4:30 pm.
The operation lasted for six hours, rescuing a Mazal Radio reporter and two other citizens.
Two women and three men were arrested in connection with the incident and will be handed over to judicial authorities after the completion of investigations.
Since August 2021, there has been a noticeable increase in crime rates nationwide. Many reports from various international organizations, human rights groups, and news outlets have noted the increase in poverty, unemployment, and crime rates in the country since then.
The rise in poverty, lack of job opportunities, and the fleeing of investors have contributed to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country. According to the United Nations report, 23.7 million people in Afghanistan face hunger due to the dire humanitarian crisis in the country.
The departure of investors has further weakened the economy, exacerbating the situation and leading to an increase in crimes such as kidnappings, theft, and other forms of violence.
