J.D. Vance crowd boos woman for asking him about abortion

Donald Trump supporters booed a reporter Monday after she asked Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance about his position on abortion.

At an event in Philadelphia, Vance took a question from local NBC reporter Rosemary Connors.

"Sen. Vance, what's your message to Pennsylvania voters on abortion?" Connors asked. "Has your opinion changed? Do you think there should be a national ban, or should it be left up to the states?"

The crowd responded with boos and jeers.

"It's okay," Vance said to calm the audience. "It's alright. It's alright."

Vance insisted that Trump supported "common ground" on abortion by allowing each state the option to ban reproductive rights.

"He said, look, Pennsylvania is going to want to have a different abortion policy from Ohio, which is going to want to have a different policy from California," the vice presidential candidate explained. "Let the states decide, let the people in those states decide."

"And I and I think, and I think it's important to point out just how different Donald Trump's common sense approach is from our opposition because these guys are talking about taxpayer-funded abortions up until the moment of birth," he continued.

Vance called abortion rights "sick stuff."

"Whether you're pro-choice or pro-life, I think we can all agree that we do not need to have American taxpayers paying for abortion at 33 weeks of pregnancy," he said. "It's just, it's gross."

Instead of supporting abortion rights, Vance said he would focus on making "American family life affordable again."

"And I think that's the best way to promote a culture of life in this country," he insisted.

Vance is on record saying that he does not support abortions even in cases of rape or incest.

"Two wrongs don't make a right. At the end of the day, we are talking about an unborn baby. What kind of society do we want to have? A society that looks at unborn babies as inconveniences to be discarded?" Vance said in a 2021 interview.
