22-year-old charged following high-speed chase in Niagara County
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 22-year-old has been hit with several charges following an alleged high-speed chase through Niagara County on Sunday afternoon, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
Robert Crawford, of Cheektowaga, is accused of leading officers on the chase through Lockport, Wilson, Porter and Lewiston after they tried to pull him over for having no license plates and driving with multiple equipment violations just after 12:45 p.m. Sunday on Lockport-Olcott Road in Newfane.
He was taken into custody on Ridge Road. He also allegedly hit a stop sign at the intersection of Ridge and Birch Road, a small fence in the area and a mailbox on Ransomville Road.
He is charged with the following:
- third-degree unlawful fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle
- resisting arrest
- second-degree obstructing governmental administration
- reckless driving
- fourth-degree criminal mischief
- leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident
- operating a motor vehicle while registration suspended or revoked
- multiple traffic and vehicle citations
He was transported to the Niagara County Correctional Facility and released on appearance tickets.
