Sky News in huge presenter shake-up as star goes ‘missing’
SKY News has had a huge presenter shake-up as a number of stars have gone ‘missing’.
Usually, Chief Presenter Kay Burley fronts the popular Breakfast programme on the commercial news channel.
However, the star anchor has been taking some much-needed downtime during the summer after her impressive election coverage.
Kay, 63, recently took to social media as she gushed over Taylor Swift‘s ‘spectacular show’ at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.
In her absence, her Sky News show has undergone a huge shake-up in recent weeks.
Today, the format was changed once again, with only a slimmed-down presenting team to front the broadcast.
Usually, either Gareth Barlow or Leah Boleto present the first hour of Sky News Breakfast before another presenter takes the reins of the show.
However, only Wilfred Frost, 39, appeared on Breakfast as he fronted the show completely solo.
Gareth, 34, is then usually on bulletin duties as he accompanies Kay or Wilfred to co-host the show.
Wilfred has been the main choice for bosses to step in for Kay, as Gareth took to the airwaves in a different daytime slot from the flagship ‘glass box’ studio.
In the first hour of the show, a guest is usually welcomed into the studio to review the papers with political correspondent Mhari Aurora.
But once again, the star was left to go through the front pages without any company beside her.
This comes as Leah – who previously hosted BBC Newsround – announced she was taking a break from TV screens over summer.
She was flooded with support after she shared a studio snap with fans, writing: “That’s me done for the summer.
“Always so thankful for so many of YOU tuning in – what a ride it’s been.
“Stay with @SkyNews for all your breaking news needs. Catch you later.”

Meanwhile, Kay previously took to X – formerly known as Twitter – as she shared a behind the scenes peak at her exotic getaway.
An image of a cream beach hat and a half drunk glass of champagne was posted to her profile on the social media platform.
The former TV-am star captioned the post: “See you on the other side. Enjoy the sunshine,” along with an emoji of the sun.
