Report: Spurs player is unavailable for Leicester match due to PL regulations
The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has revealed that Oliver Skipp is expected to complete his switch to Leicester City today but the midfielder will not be eligible to face Tottenham this evening. New Spurs signing Wilson Odobert is also unavailable for the Lilywhites.
Oliver Skipp to Leicester City for £25m
Kilpatrick backs up what we have heard from various sources over the past 24 hours by stating that Skipp is expected to complete his switch to the King Power Stadium in a deal worth an initial £20m plus another £5m in add-ons.
The 23-year-old has reportedly passed his medical, with his signing expected set to be announced soon.
However, the move has allegedly not been completed in time for the midfielder to be involved in the Foxes’ season opener against the Lilywhites.
Spurs will be without Wilson Odobert
Kilpatrick also confirms that Spurs’ newest addition, Wilson Odobert, will also not be part of Tottenham’s matchday squad at the Midlands.
This is because the Frenchman is still said to be waiting for his work permit to arrive after signing for the North London side.
Tottenham will be hoping to have Odobert in the squad in time for the Everton match next week.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite possible that Tottenham and Leicester agreed a deal for Skipp a week or two ago but the Lilywhites waited until Sunday to greenlight the move to ensure that the midfielder would not be playing against them in the first game of the new campaign.
Whatever the case, £25m is a great fee to get for Skipp.
