Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared several effective anti-aging tips.
PRESS SNOOZE
Dr. Colville said it’s important to have between seven to eight hours of sleep every night to maintain skin health.
“Lack of sleep can impact the immune system and this can impact the amount of collagen we have in our skin,” she said.
“Collagen is the building block of the skin and vital to a youthful complexion.
“Therefore, more sleep literally equals less wrinkles.”
PERFECT PILLOWS
Habitually sleeping in the wrong position can cause unsightly wrinkles to develop over time.
Dr. Colville revealed clever tricks for correcting the common mistake.
“Side sleepers often notice deeper nose-to-mouth lines, lines around the eyes a deep groove above the eyebrow and chest lines,” she said.
“Sleeping on your back is the best sleeping position to prevent unwanted worsening of natural aging lines and wrinkles.
“If you can’t manage to sleep on your back then there are specialist anti-wrinkle pillows available which can reduce these wrinkles.
“Another top tip is to try silicone pads which are available for the chest and face which prevent folding of the skin overnight and are reusable.”
BEAUTY BOOSTERS
A daily skincare routine that includes broad-spectrum SPF isn’t the only way to avoid accelerated aging.
“Sunglasses and peaked hats will also prevent squinting which can reduce frown and eye wrinkles,” Dr. Colville said.
“A good quality collagen supplement is another useful boost, usually in a liquid form such as Skinade.
“These are a great way to increase collagen levels throughout your whole body and not just your face and neck.”

DOCTOR’S ORDERS
Dr. Alison Colville previously revealed to The U.S. Sun that 80% of skin aging is avoidable.
She said active ingredients should be incorporated into skincare routines from our 20s when collagen levels start to decline.
Her own age-defying appearance is the result of having seen her granny use “ice-cold water” to wash her face each day.
She recreates the same effect using metal globes kept in the refrigerator.
When applied to the skin, they reduce redness and puffiness on her face.
