Pokémon fans go wild for Worlds as huge announcements for Go, Unite and TCG are revealed
POKÉMON Worlds have just finished in Honolulu, Hawaii, with players grabbing millions in prize winnings across all four games.
Fernando Cifuentes of Chile took home the TCG grand prize of $50k (£40k), while Luca Ceribelli took the gold and $30k (£25k) in prize money back to Italy for his VGC win.

However, there wasn’t only exciting news for our winners, but Pokémon players around the world learned about what is coming up for the four games.
Firstly, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can grab the 2023 World Championship-winning Sylveon from Tomoya Ogawa by typing the code SLEEPTALKW0RLDS into Mystery Gift.
The code will expire today (Monday, August 19, 2024), so this is players’ last chance to grab it.
For Pokémon Unite players, three new characters were announced, which they will be able to grab in 2024.
Firstly, Armarouge will be added to the game on September 12, while Darkrai is coming in October, and Psyduck in November.
While Pokémon Unite characters usually evolve during the battle, Psyduck will remain in its unevolved form throughout the battle.
We also finally received a release date for TCG Pocket, the upcoming mobile game that will allow players to play casual TCG games on the go.
It will launch on October 30 on both iOS and Android, and a brand new Mewtwo card was teased at the end of the trailer.
For the general trading card game, a number of new cards were also announced, including a fan-favourite comeback card type.
Trainer cards will return to the game, much like the iconic Blaine’s Vulpix from the classic card set.
Four cards were revealed for the set, including Lille’s Clefairy Ex, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl Ex, N’s Zoroark Ex, and N’s Reshiram.
At the end of the trailer, a new set with Team Rocket was teased, combined with the Mewtwo teaser for TCG Pocket it is likely Giovanni’s or Team Rocket’s Mewtwo.
The final announcement was for the Pokémon World Championship locations for 2025 and 2026.
Both tournaments will be held in California. Anaheim will be the location for the tournament in 2025, while San Francisco will host in 2026.
