Amtrak, Metro-North announce service disruptions due to heavy rain and flooding

NEW YORK (PIX11)-- Heavy rainfall and flooding have caused service disruptions at multiple train Stations, Metro-North and Amtrak announced Sunday evening. 

“All rail traffic between New York (NYP) and Philadelphia (PHL) is temporarily suspended due to flooding conditions in the Newark (NWK) area until further notice,” read one social media post by Amtrak. “We appreciate your patience and will update as information becomes available.”

Due to flooding, Amtrak Crews were dispatched as trains were holding between Philadelphia 30th Street and New York Penn Station. 

Metro-North, the train line that serves customers in New York and Connecticut, announced suspensions for some train lines until Monday morning. 

“Waterbury Branch service is suspended in both directions because of a weather-related flooding near Seymour,” read one social media post on their X account. “ Danbury and Waterbury service will be suspended through tomorrow morning. Customers should consider using the New Haven or Harlem Lines for service on Monday morning.” 

According to officials, the Danbury Branch service and the Waterbury Branch service have been suspended.
