My parents wanted to call me after a fruit but were fortunately talked out of it, instead, they named me after a fish
A WOMAN has revealed the name her parents gave her to make sure she stood out.
When it comes to picking a baby name parents can come across a whole host of struggles – from finding one nobody has used to making sure it honours tradition.
But one woman has revealed how her parents took an nontraditional approach to picking out her moniker.
Taking to social media she revealed: “My parents were from Alaska and were going to name me blueberry if I was a girl or an Alaskan town if I was boy.
She later revealed that some of her parents co-workers were able to talk them out of calling her Blueberry when they found out they were having a girl.
“Luckily her co-workers talked her out of it,” she explained.
However, the unique name choiuces didn’t stop there.
Despite being urged away from them her parents compromised and named her after an animal instead of a fruit.
She revealed: “But I am named after a fish!”
“Halibut.”
Most people hear the word and think of a delicious fish dinner with greens and potatoes but for this woman it was her name.
She did say there was one saving grave as her full name wasn’t actually Halibut, instead they opted for the name Hali.
The post quickly went viral with over 250 likes in the Facebook group, That name isn’t a tragedeigh, it’s a murghdyrr.
People were quick to take to the comments in shock by her chosen name.
One person wrote: “Where I’m from Halibut is a rash cream.”
Another commented: “Stop it right now lol your full name is Halibut?”
