Five motorcyclists have died after two horror crashes on country roads in Derbyshire.

The first crash happened on the A53 Buxton to Leek road outside Buxton at about 9.45am yesterday.

Three motorcyclists, all men in their 50s, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene after a crash involving three Ducati motorbikes, a van and a car.

Then at around 10.20am, another smash occurred on the A4 near Tom Thorn between Buxton and Dove Holes.

Two motorcyclists died at the scene after crashing with a car.

Derbyshire Police said: ‘Their families are aware and our thoughts are with them at this time.’

After the first crash on the A53, the van driver and two people from the car were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Now the force has launched an appeal to speak to anyone who witnessed the smashes or has dashcam footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire Police quoting reference 319 of 18 August (for A6 crash) or reference 24*492531 (A53 crash).
