News and Notes: Civale Stymies Guardians, Williams Walloped in First
Willy Adames hit a three-run homer off Gavin Williams in the first inning and the Brewers didn't look back in defeating the Guardians 5-3.
I guess we were due for a revenge game and Aaron Civale delivered it, going six scoreless innings, striking out four and walking one. The Brewers bullpen faltered in the eighth with right-hander Bryse Wilson giving up home runs to Jose Ramirez:

Jose Ramirez gets the Guardians on the board and brings in his 100th RBI on the season! #ForTheLand pic.twitter.com/mO0Jg7cs7V
And David Fry:

It was 32 homers and 100 RBI for Jose this season. We can only hope this was a sign of Fry getting right vs RHP as we don't appear to be getting Kyle Manzardo anytime soon.
But they pulled it together even with closer Devin Williams unavailable to shut down the Guardians the rest of the way.
Williams kept getting two outs or two strikes and not being able to put guys away. He also walked two guys. It was a disappointing step backwards from his excellent start in Minnesota. Back to the lab to try to find consistency. Pedro Avila, Eli Morgan and Scott Barlow allowed only two walks in five innings of relief, striking out five.
Will Brennan was 3 for 4 and has been on fire since returning from time in Columbus. Recently, Chris Antonetti mentioned that they may have brought Brennan back from his rib injury to soon. No kidding. Like we all speculated. Huh.
Time to flush this one quick and get back to winning series instead of these wild streaks because my mind can't handle this.

The Twins and Royals both won so the beat goes on.
