Minor League Recap for Friday, August 16th, 2024

Columbus Clippers (59-56) - AAA

COL 3 - IOW 4

Box Score

Logan Allen recorded his first loss for Columbus. Allen went 4.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 3. Connor Gillespie bridged the gap between Allen and Aleman. Gillespie went 2.1 innings with 1 hit, 1 walk but struck out 5 batters. Franco Aleman finished the final Columbus frame, striking out 1 and walking 1.

Columbus offense shared the hits, with 6 batters contributing to the team’s 6 hits. But they were unable to piece enough together to get ahead of the Iowa Cubs (CHC). Myles Straw got his second home run of the season.

While Jhonathan Rodriguez launched another rocket for a 2-run home run, scoring Kyle Manzardo.

It is worth noting that Gabriel Arias was not in the line up for the 3rd game in a row. The Cleveland Guardians line up was slow to be posted for Friday night’s game. There’s always a chance of coincidence, but it is worth keeping an eye on the transactions page before tonight’s games.

The game entered a rain delay after the 7th inning and was ultimately called in the RubberDucks’ favor.
