Back to business: Astros 6, White Sox 1
yes 64 games under yes -256 run differential yes third-worst start in MLB history yes all-time losing record yes 42 1⁄2 out of first yes 30 games out of fourth yes it’s August 17
After a brief hiatus into something called ... winning? ... the White Sox were back to their old tricks on Saturday, losing a game they were never in, and making it a sloppy and embarrassing one, to boot: Infielders unable to field, misplayed double plays, slipshod base running, terrible SB prevention on defense and SB execution on offense. All that really was missing? A patented 16-K, 2-BB game by the batters or the strange bullpen implosion of a close game.
Anyhow, there’s still a shot at a series win on Sunday, if you believe in miracles. On the subject, the White Sox still could, technically, win their 40th game by the end of August. They might also enter September with 30 wins.
