A child has died after visiting a trampoline park in Scotland.

Few details have yet been released about what happened, but police said the child ‘took unwell’ just before 11am today.

They were taken to hospital but pronounced dead due to ‘unexplained’ causes.

Flip Out Glasgow has since posted on their Facebook page: ‘Flip Out Glasgow is closed today. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

‘If you have pre-booked to visit today, please email glasgow@flipout.co.uk with your booking details and we will refund your booking or move your booking to another day. Please keep an eye on our social media where we post updates on when we will be reopening.’

Commenting on the post, one mum wrote:  ‘As someone who was taking my 3-year-old and 11-year-old today my heart goes out the families involved and staff involved. Nobody expects to take their child on a day out and not return home with them.’

Another visitor told how they were not sure what had happened but had been at the centre in Rutherglen and it ‘looked really bad with police and ambulances’.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: ‘Enquiries are ongoing after a child took unwell at a premises in Southcroft Road, Rutherglen shortly before 11.00am on Sunday, 18 August 2024.

‘The child was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children where they were pronounced dead.

‘The child’s death is being treated as unexplained, although there are not thought be any suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The Health and Safety Executive has also been notified.’
