Retail players, QSRs slashed jobs in FY24 amid slowdown

Around a dozen lifestyle, grocery retailers, and quick-service restaurants cut about 26,000 jobs in FY24. This decline followed a slowdown in store expansions amid weakening consumer demand. Leading this staff reduction were Reliance Industries' retail arm and other major retailers. Still, some retailers, such as Shoppers Stop, continued to expand.
