THE OTB IAN McNAB MEMORIAL TROPHY
One day event (April 24) – 5-Round Swiss – 15 minutes all moves – Chess 960 (Fisher-Random)
Congratulations to Vladyslav Drabych for winning the Ian McNab Memorial trophy for the second time! This time he did not have to share it! Finishing on 4½ points, from runner-up junior sensation, Joshua Smikle (4 pts), Vladyslav navigated the tricky Chess 960 (Fisher Random) format in all 5 rounds and is proving to be a fine young man and chess player! Well done again Vlad!
Also well played to new junior member, Joshua Smikle for finishing in 2nd place in a strong tournament. One to watch I think for the future!
We had 14 entries, so thank you for your support of this long running memorial event. For all the results and standings, click the link “HERE”.

Congratulations to Matthew Hunter the new Online Quick-Play Grand Prix Champion 23-24! Not only that, Matthew did it with a round to spare!
The turnout in the last few rounds was disappointing, but it`s Summertime and the living is easy!
This is Matthew’s 3rd Castlehill trophy which is some achievement. Matthew and Vladyslav have been on fire this season, and both very young, with the chess world at their feet if they continue in this vein!

We have just two tournaments to complete, the OTB Random Knockout and the OTB Bob Dunn Summer.
OTB RANDOM KNOCKOUT 2023-24
75 minutes all moves
Amazingly Vladyslav Drabych is already in the final trying to make it 4 Castlehill titles! Vladyslav is waiting on the winner of the last semi-final between Andy Rowe and Subhayu Banerjee.

OTB BOB DUNN SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP 23-24
4-Round Swiss – 90 minutes all moves
Round 4 to go and I am going to repeat myself again, but in contention is none other than Vladyslav Drabych who would be going for his 5th Castlehill title. In his way is Kam Wan going for his first title! Also in contention is Alisdair McLeod, who faces junior sensation Joshua Smikle. On paper, it`s looking like a 2-way tie for the title, but you can never count your chickens before they hatch!
