Iimura and Mishiro retain Japanese titles

0
Earlier today fight fans at Korakuen Hall, as well as those tuning into U-Next had the chance to watch the latest Dynamic Glove show, which featured 2 Japanese title bouts, along with a notable step up for a very highly touted unbeaten prospect

The touted prospect was 24 year old Reo Nishioka (4-0, 1) [西岡伶英], who maintained his unbeaten record with a razor thin win against Kento Uchigamae (4-2, 1) [内構拳斗] in a very well matched 8 rounder. The fight was nip and tuck throughout, with Nishioka boxing well behind his jab and Uchigamae using his body shots well, though it was a counter right hand by Nishioka that essentially decided the fight, as the shot dropped Uchigamae. Uchigamae recovered from the knockdown well, but the fight was really, really close afterwards, with almost nothing to split the men. When one man increased their tempo, the other would come back the next round in a bout that really saw the judges struggling to split them. After 8 rounds all 3 judges turned in 76-75 scores, with 2 of the 3 judges giving it to Nishioka. We wouldn’t be surprised at all by seeing these two face off again down the line.

The first of the two title fighters saw Japanese Flyweight champion Jukiya Iimura (7-1, 2) [飯村樹輝弥] make his third defense, as he easily out pointed Tetsuya Mimura (12-5, 3) [見村徹弥] over 10 rounds.

From the off Mimura tried to box, move, use the ring and get behind his jab. Sadly for him Iimura was happy to press the action and despite the fact he landed little of note in the first round, he found his groove and went on to land almost all the notable shots as he racked up round, after rounds, dictating the tempo, being the aggressor, and looking the boss. Mimura wasn't willingly making up the numbers, and he did have moments here and there, but was clearly coming off second best pretty much every minute of every round. After 10 the judges had this a wide win for Iimura, with scores of 100-90, and 99-91, twice.

The other title bout saw Japanese Lightweight champion Hironori Mishiro (16-1-1, 5) [三代大訓] record his first defense, as he saw off Kazuaki Miyamoto (10-9, 8) [宮本知彰] in round 6. Mishiro found his rhythm early on, establishing his footwork, range and distance. He set a high tempo and whilst Miyamoto tried to match it, he was somewhat out of his depth, rarely having more than a flash of success. Whilst he was coming off second best there was no doubting Miyamoto's heart, but sadly that heart didn't help him overcome a nasty cut over his right eye, from the clean shots Mishiro was landing. Early in round 6, with Miyamoto's face looking worse for wear, the referee stepped in, following a spiteful right hand from Mishiro.
